Since the release of Netflix’s Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99, everyone is reminiscing on Woodstock ’99 music festival. The Voice host Carson Daly has recently joined the conversation, explaining what it was like when he worked the event.

As many know, this music festival is known for going terribly wrong. The brand new three-part streamer Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 focuses on the chaos that took place at the event, nearly two decades ago. Since The Voice host was in attendance at the event, people have asked him questions about being there. Daly discussed the event on his social media, by posting multiple photos of him from the Netflix special.

“All I can say is: I thought I was going to die,” Daly said. “It started off great, TRL Live from the side of main stage interviewing all the bands (like Jay from Jamiroquai) & then started getting pelted with bottles, rocks, lighters, all of it. It got insane fast.”

Within Daly’s social media caption he shared the entire story of the experience. He explained that as Limp Bizkit played “Break Stuff” the crowd began going wild. Once things got out of hand, his MTV boss took him backstage. Eventually, he recalls being in a production van that was driving recklessly through corn fields.

Daly recalled the experience as “so crazy & a blur now,” adding that he felt like he “was in another country during military conflict.”

Now, nearly two decades later, Daly looks back at the experience stating “I have so many fun memories from that era, this was not one of them. Needless to say, I haven’t taken the fam back to Rome, NY, for a vacation.”

Though Daly hasn’t returned to Rome, NY, he was apart of HBO Max’s 2021 documentary Woodstock 99: Peace, Love and Rage. Daly commented on Woodstock ’99 on the Today show on August 15. Within the show, Daly acknowledged “everything that could go wrong, went wrong.”

He went on to explain that the venue was put together quickly, in an area where concertgoers were stuck in direct sunlight. According to the television host, there were around 6,000 people in the hospital after the event.

Carson Daly Isn’t The Only Celebrity in Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99

Netflix’s newest docuseries, Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 premiered on August 3 and has since gained online traction. The docuseries focuses on the revival of the iconic music festival, Woodstock in 1999. Even though the original festival in 1969 promised peace and music, the revival was far from the same.

On top of Carson Daly, former Dancing With the Stars celebrity Mike “The Miz” Mizanin confirmed that he was in the Woodstock ’99 crowd, after videos of him surfaced. Within the video, The Miz is seen shirtless, screaming “Woodstock ’99 baby” into the camera within the docuseries.

The WWE wrestler took recorded the footage of himself and shared it to his social media, stating “never knew this footage existed, had to do a double take.” Reports state that he was 18 years old within the video. The Miz has not commented further on Woodstock ’99.
